In this letter written by the half-brother of our Lord, the issue addressed was that of false teachers who were using Christian liberty and the free grace of God as a license for immorality. This may strike us as particularly foreign - but categorically using the free grace of God and liberty in Christ as reasons to express little concern for sinful, undisciplined, worldly, unsanctified lives - is nothing new.
