The promise of Heaven

A friend of mine asked me to say a prayer at his father's funeral. Lord God, You are the Creator of the Universe and we acknowledge, that even in these difficult times, you are in control, of everything. Even though we experience loss, we thank you for your comfort. Lord if there are any who are suffering pain or grief, I pray that you would give them courage and the ability to trust you. We trust you lord to fill any void, and any emptiness with your presence. I pray Lord for all here, your children.  May we all continue to live our lives with purpose and meaning.  Heal our broken hearts Lord.  Remove doubt and pain.  Remind us of your sufficient grace.  We need you.  We need your strength.  Guide us.   Lord, we pour out our pain and grief to you and trust that suffering will end and that your love will conquer all. Remind us lord of the joy, and hope, and the peace we have in you. Lord you are the Great Shepherd.  Even when we don't know what to pray or how to pray.  You hear our cries and you care for us. Lord grant us the knowledge of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Lord, lift up our eyes so that we may catch a glimpse of eternity, and be comforted by the promise of heaven.  The promise of your kingdom. We ask all this in the precious name of our Lord and Saviour, Christ Jesus.  Amen
