The Promise of Passover

In the first couple chapter of Exodus, Moses is born during a time of persecution, when Pharaoh orders the killing of all Hebrew male infants. His mother hides him, placing him in a basket on the Nile, where Pharaoh’s daughter finds and adopts him. As an adult, Moses kills an Egyptian for abusing a Hebrew and flees to Midian, where he marries Zipporah. Meanwhile, God hears the cries of the Israelites suffering in Egypt.
