Trump entered this war promising to obliterate Iran’s nuclear program, dismantle its missile forces, reopen Hormuz and bring the Islamic Republic to its knees. Instead, the regime remains standing, its missiles remain operational, its nuclear ambitions remain unresolved and its control over the world’s most important energy chokepoint is stronger than it was before the first American bomb fell. Iran did not need to defeat the United States on the battlefield; it only needed to survive long enough to expose the limits of American power.
