Kahlil Gibran was a writer, poet, and artist. He was born on January 6, 1883, in a small village called Bsharri in Lebanon, which was part of the Ottoman Empire at that time. When he was 12 years old, he moved to the United States with his mother and siblings. They settled in Boston, Massachusetts. Even though Gibran lived in America, he never forgot his roots. He wrote in both Arabic and English and mixed ideas from both the East and the West in his work.Gibran was very interested in big questions like: What is love? Why do people suffer? What does it mean to live a good life? He used poetry and art to explore these ideas. One of his most famous books is called The Prophet, which he wrote in English. It was published in 1923 and has never been out of print since. The Prophet is a book made up of 26 short chapters. Each chapter is about a different part of life, like love, marriage, children, work, freedom, pain, joy, and death. The story is about a wise man named Almustafa who has lived in the city of Orphalese for 12 years. Now, a ship has come to take him home. Before he leaves, the people of the city gather and ask him to share his wisdom. One by one, they ask him questions, and he answers each with a poetic speech. For example, when someone asks him about love, Almustafa says that love can bring joy, but also pain. He says that love "wounds" you so that you can grow. When someone asks about work, he says work is love made visible. This means that when you work with care and passion, it becomes a way of showing love to others.Gibran uses simple but deep words to help readers understand life in a thoughtful way. Many people feel comforted by the book. Some read it when they are going through hard times. Others use it at weddings, funerals, or other special moments in life.Kahlil Gibran died in 1931 in New York City, but his words still inspire people all around the world. The Prophet has been translated into over 100 languages. It is one of the most read and loved books of all time. Through this book, Gibran reminds us to live with love, truth, and kindness.Timestamps - The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran00:00:00 The Coming of the Ship00:09:56 Love00:13:06 Marriage00:15:27 Children00:17:05 Giving00:21:23 Eating and Drinking00:23:45 Work00:28:33 Joy and Sorrow00:30:42 Houses00:35:02 Clothes00:36:24 Buying and Selling00:38:30 Crime and Punishment00:43:59 Laws00:47:01 Freedom00:50:45 Reason and Passion00:53:23 Pain00:54:58 Self-Knowledge00:56:45 Teaching00:58:21 Friendship01:00:57 Talking01:02:55 Time01:04:52 Good and Evil01:08:25 Prayer01:11:26 Pleasure01:15:32 Beauty01:19:12 Religion01:22:08 Death01:24:21 The Farewell
