The Psychology of a Nice Office Space--Carolyn Boldt How do you feel when you walk into a nice house, business, or clinic? How do you feel when it looks worn down, cheap and dirty? How do think your patients feel when they walk into your office? How do you feel about your office space? You may think it doesn’t matter and the only thing that matters is your clinical care, but I contend you are wrong in thinking that. In this episode, I interview Carolyn Boldt from Crossfields Chiropractic Office Design about the psychology of a nice office. I am personally in the process of starting the makeover of my 9-year-old office space that I own. It is nice, but it is starting to not only get worn but the look and decor are now “outdated.” Every 7-10 years the trends of design change and in a busy office, everything from the flooring, paint, furniture, and equipment starts to look weathered. We discuss the ins and outs of your office space and discuss the following: • Renovating your current office • Designing it from the start. • What to consider if you are on a tight budget • Considerations if you own your office space vs leasing. • Are you on a short lease or a long lease? • Why it has a direct ROI to invest capital into your office space. • Built-ins vs Furniture • The psychology of the patient and your office space. • The psychology of the doctor/owner and your office space. I am seeing more and more healthcare spaces that are not nice and I know it has an impact on the practice itself.
