The PuckPedia Hockey Show Episode 32: Meltdown in Toronto ft. Matt Marchese

from The PuckPedia Hockey Show · host PuckPedia

Episode 32 of The PuckPedia Hockey Show has a very special guest on, co-host of Sportsnet’s The FAN Hockey Show Matt Marchese. Matty tells us how he got into his role at Sportsnet (2:30), starting first as a producer on a few shows including Hockey Central and The Jeff Marek Show. Then he tells us how when Marek left he personally recommended Marchese to get the co-host role alongside former Los Angeles Kings executive Mike Futa (4:30). We talk about the instant chemistry between Marchese and Futa (8:00), their relationship going back 10+ years, and how they have built up their show which is now in year 2. This year they also have super NHL insider Elliotte Friedman on their show 4 times per week and Matty tells us how great that has been for them and what it’s like working with him (12:15). Then we talk about Auston Matthews’ recent injury, the lack of response by the players on the ice and the lack of suspension by the NHL Player Safety Department for Radko Gudas of the Anaheim Ducks (16:30). We also talk about the disconnect between the players and the coaching staff/management, and what has to be done this off-season to regroup for next season. Then Matty tells us about a surprise team this year, the Boston Bruins (22:00), and how the team has bought in to Marco Sturm and the new coaching staff. We also touch on the Buffalo Sabres and how electric it’s been lately and how the city will be rocking in April if they make the postseason this year. Then we talk about the Carolina Hurricanes and how shocked we were that they were quiet at the Deadline when they had the assets to strengthen their group going into the playoffs (30:30). We wrap up the episode talking about the Western Conference and if the Colorado Avalanche are the team to beat, or if the Dallas Stars, Edmonton Oilers, Minnesota Wild, or Vegas Golden Knights can overthrow them (36:00).  Visit PuckPedia.com and follow PuckPedia on social media!X: @PuckPedia IG: @PuckPedia Go to PuckPedia.com/Coolbet to get in on the action today.
