The Punishment Must Fit the Crime

With heinous crimes like Henry Nowak's murder and the Southport massacre in the headlines every day now, the British public wants to bring back the death penalty.47 per cent of students, 58 per cent of Millennials, and 55 per cent of the general public want to bring back the death penalty. That increases to 70 per cent specifically for murder and terrorism.79 per cent of Reform voters support the death penalty, as do MPs Richard Tice and Lee Anderson. I'm pretty sure Zia Yusuf would volunteer as executioner. But Nigel Farage has yet to commit to a referendum or a parliamentary vote on reinstating it.Restore Britain has promised a "binding referendum" on capital punishment. But while a majority of Conservative and Labour voters support it, their parties do not.Millions of voters lack representation on this issue. Unless the next government commits to a vote to bring back the death penalty, the public will continue to feel our national moral ledger is gravely imbalanced.
