The Purpose Book Club - Blood Meridian Ep. 2 Death Hilarious Chap 1-7

I cover the first section of Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy. This section follows "The Kid" from Tennessee to a jail in Mexico. Along the way, he meets a host of significant characters. The reader quickly encounters the senseless meanness of the Judge when he ruins a Reverend's service. We are ambushed with the uncomfortable hate of the time and forced to reckon with the idea that you can hat and appreciate a character at the same time. We see The Kid's first kill, a squabble over whiskey. Lastly, we encounter a brilliant depiction of massive violence when Comanches decimate the Filibusters. It's a jaw-dropping piece of literature and I try my best to do it justice.Thank you for being a part of The Purpose Book Club!
