The purpose of the world is to obscure your function

from ACIM Inspiration with Anthony Gold · host Anthony Gold

All the drama in our lives is purposeful. But it’s not the purpose we think. The reason we believe things happen the way they do is the result of our efforts, or because of other people, good or bad luck, or other worldly causes beyond our control. But it’s none of those. The reason things occur the way they do is to keep us rooted in the belief that this is real and consequential. In other words, it’s a giant smokescreen. As we learn in A Course in Miracles: “The purpose of the world you see is to obscure your function, and provide you with a justification for forgetting it.”By keeping us fixated on the drama and the goings-on with our body and other bodies, we never consider that our perspective is all wrong. That’s how the ego mind works - it convinces us we’re a body and that we can suffer. Our function, which the ego so masterfully obscures, is to return to our decision making mind and make a different choice, choosing the mind of love instead of the ego. With that different choice, all drama instantly melts away.Support the show
