The Race Of Life In True Faith1 Corinthians 9: 1-27Paul used the example of the athlete to call thecongregation to repentance, to let them see what the goalis, the crown that will last forever. The apostle Paul wantedthem to see themselves and us as a congregation in a mirrorso that we can become focussed again on what matters. Tobe a runner in faith asks that we not only sacrifice the thingsthat are harmful to our relationship with the Lord, but italso asks that we are dedicated in our preparation to servethe Lord. The two-word pictures that Paul used in 1Corinthians 9 are that of a runner who runs focused on thefinish line and the boxer who doesn’t shy away from hisopponent, but rather engages him to the finish.Preached By Rev Lourens Nel on 29/1/2023
