Because people like to manipulate the past, You see, the past requires just too much effort, Too much thinking, too much responsibility, And not enough drinking, So it's easier for me to just get lost in the memories of: The 60's, 70's, 80's & 90's, That have now been conveniently... ... Repackaged, Refashioned & Re-imagined to blind me, . So-much-so, that even the idea of this poem is a blatant Gil Scott Heron rip-off! . Yet if I look to the highway, Is it really going my way?
