The fact that all you need to do is resist tells you where the real power is. It is with you! So, how do you resist the devil? One way to resist is through meditation. The word 'meditate' in Joshua 1:8 is the Hebrew "hagah", which has several meanings. One meaning is to roar. Christian meditation differs from that of eastern religions in that we do not empty our minds. Instead, we fill our minds with the Word of God. As we meditate on scripture, we mutter the word quietly to ourselves. Then there are times when we roar the word. When the devil roars fear, shame, defeat, and hopelessness at you, roar back! You are the real lion! Christ, the Word and Conquering Lion, resides in you. The devil is a fake lion. Resist him with the word, and you will turn his roar into a defeated whimper!
