The Red Suitcase: The Rose Pizem Tragedy

In 2008, four-year-old Rose Pizem was murdered in Israel after being caught in a highly irregular family dynamic where her mother, Marie, had entered a relationship with her own father-in-law, Rony Ron. Following a massive search effort triggered by Rose's great-grandmother's concerns, divers eventually recovered the girl's remains from the Yarkon River inside a red suitcase. The legal proceedings concluded in 2011 with Rony Ron convicted of murder and Marie convicted of soliciting the murder, as the court found she had pressured Ron to eliminate Rose after viewing the child as a burden to her new life.
