The Reflection in the Static: I Saw the First Luna

Luna steps out of the mirror and into a version of the transmitter station where the signal never existed. The air is clean, the static is gone, and a woman who looks exactly like her—but older, with Evelyn's eyes—is sitting at a desk reviewing footage from 1976. She calls herself the First Luna, and she has been waiting. She shows Luna a room of tapes, each labeled with a different year, each containing a recording of a woman who tried to break the loop. The First Luna explains that the cage was built to contain a consciousness that cannot die, and that every Luna before her has failed. The sewn-eyes woman appears in the reflection of a blank monitor, and the First Luna tells Luna she must choose to become the new warden or let the original threat escape. Luna refuses, and the First Luna reveals that the refusal is itself a recorded step in the loop.
