The Renewal of Choices

Today, Bishop Rodgers teaches from Joshua 24:14-15 on "The Renewal of Choices." In this passage of Scripture, Joshua addresses the people, charging them to be faithful in serving the God who has been so faithful in helping them. Israel was being asked to choose its loyalties. Joshua didn't have to threaten them or coerce them, he set the example by his own choice. Joshua and his family were committed to the Lord regardless of the decision of the people. Joshua knew he could not control the hearts of the people, but he know the Whose agenda he would follow. Joshua challenged the people to do the following: (1) Fear the Lord; (2) Serve Him; (3) in Sincerity; (4) and in Truth; (5) put away other gods. Each generation must make this choice. Joshua stands as a good example of a leader, willing to move ahead of his people & commit himself.
