The Return to the Wise Body: Hormonal Intelligence and Psychedelic-Informed care for Women with Stephanie Karzon Abrams | The Holistic Pharmacy Podcast

from Pharmacy Podcast Network · host Pharmacy Podcast Network

This was one of the most special podcast episodes I’ve recorded to date, especially since it was the first time it was recorded LIVE! We gathered for GALILEA's Gathering — an intimate evening that brought together clinicians, researchers, founders, and facilitators for a real conversation about the future of women's health. I had the privilege of recording a live interview with neuropharmacologist and GALILEA creator Stephanie Karzon right there in the room, surrounded by people who are genuinely building something new A core focus of our conversation was mapping out why hormones and life stages are important to factor into female care and why they're especially needed for the psychedelic experience, from a biochemical perspective and for the lived experience. A psychedelic-informed lens in women's care has now become non-negotiable; since clients will likely explore these medicines with or without capable practitioners willing to guide them. And let’s face it, current pharmacotherapy isn't enough. Identity and spirituality matter in clinical practice. We need to bring hormone and cycle awareness into practice, as well as the relationship between estrogen, serotonin, glutamate, and psychedelic medicine. Stephanie Karzon Abrams is a clinical neuropharmacologist, founder of Beyond Consulting—powering the integrative and psychedelic medicine spaces by bridging emerging research with clinical practice, and designing clinics and healing centers from the ground up. She serves as Clinical Director at Mystic Health, is an associated prescriber of MDMA and psilocybin therapy under Canada’s SAP, and is the Research Director at the Microdosing Collective non profit. Stephanie believes in the undercurrent of joy and authenticity woven into the fabric of our existence, and thus creates talks and workshops where the human experience is explored through the lenses of science, culture, and celebration. With experience in neurology, intensive care, and medical devices at Johnson & Johnson, she is a recognized leader in innovative healthcare. Her work bridges neuroscience, women’s health, plant medicine, and the healing power of music. A musician, writer, and speaker, Stephanie also builds community through gatherings rooted in music and meaning through her label Public Secret.
