The Revival That The Tomb Couldn’t Contain Introduction ”Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,“ I Corinthians 15:1-4 NKJV There is significance in the 3 things Death Burial Resurrection Resurrection is the one that puts a stamp on the Christian faith There were people who were resurrected Son of a Widow in Zarephath Shunammite Woman’s Son An Unnamed Man Son of a Widow from Nain Jairus’s Daughter Lazarus Many Holy People in Jerusalem Tabitha/Dorcas Eutychus Jesus What makes the resurrection of Jesus Christ greatest is, He used His own power to rise up from the grave I Corinthians 15:12-19 NKJV Death on the Cross ”And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”“ Luke 23:43 NKJV Jesus promised the thief on the cross, that He will be with him the same day in Paradise. His death was to give life to all this who believe ”Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many.“ Matthew 27:51-53 NKJV Even those saints of old were resurrected to eternal glory Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, David and everyone who believed in God were resurrected The Quiet Saturday Holy Saturday, was a very difficult time because the reality of the death and burial of Jesus was tormenting the minds of the disciples They were scattered all over, fearing for their lives Lost hope and not sure what will happen ”For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit, by whom also He went and preached to the spirits in prison, who formerly were disobedient, when once the Divine longsuffering waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water.“ I Peter 3:18-20 NKJV ”Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live. For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself, and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man. Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice“ John 5:25-28 NKJV Many theologians believe that this verse testifies of the Holy Saturday, action of Jesus to preach to this who are in Hades Others say Jesus was speaking of spiritual dead but verse 28 put it explicit that the ones in the graves will hear Jesus’ voice Both revelations are correct ”The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.“ Revelation 20:13-15 NKJV The power that raised Jesus ”But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.“ Romans 8:11 NKJV Ephesians 1:19-23 NKJV
