The Reward Epidemic: When Jobs Stop Being Functions

From below, ordinary people see real reward-jobs: positions with title, salary, and status but no visible output. They draw a rational conclusion: if some jobs are prizes, why not distribute the prizes fairly?The problem is that this inference is often correct.
