The Road

The Road illustrates the Gospel as a journey of faith. Beginning with the reality of humanity's separation from God and culminating at the cross, the song reflects the hope, forgiveness, grace, and new life found through Jesus Christ. Rich biblical imagery and congregational lyrics make it suitable for personal worship, church services, and Christian radio. Verse Each step I took led me astray Further from God's perfect way Sin had marked my every mile Death stood waiting all the while Chorus There is a road that leads to life Where mercy conquered sin and strife My Savior died for all my sins Now He holds my life down the road of time Verse Grace was sealed at the cross Love stretched beyond every loss I called His name He welcomed me His risen life has set me free Chorus There is a road that leads to life Where mercy conquered sin and strife My Savior died for all my sins Now He holds my life down the road of time Bridge Every journey abounding with grace Every step I take brings me to a place Where everlasting life guides my way I walk with Christ forevermore Chorus There is a road that leads to life Where mercy conquered sin and strife My Savior died for all my sins Now He holds my life down the road of time Ending There is a road that leads to life Where mercy conquered sin and strife My Savior died for all my sins Now He holds my life Now He holds my life Now He holds my life down the road of time
