THE ROLE OF THANKSGIVING IN PRAYER!

from The Kingdom Of God First Podcast. · host Tewe Kolade Felix

Scripture: “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.” — Philippians 4:6 (NKJV) Message: Thanksgiving is a vital part of our prayer life. When we come to God in prayer, we are not only to present our needs and concerns but also to express gratitude for who He is and what He has already done. Philippians 4:6 reminds us that thanksgiving should accompany our requests, helping us shift our focus from worry to trust. Thankfulness in prayer acknowledges God's faithfulness and goodness. It strengthens our faith because it reminds us of past answered prayers and His constant presence in our lives. Even in difficult times, gratitude helps us maintain a heart of worship, knowing that God is in control and working for our good. When we pray with thanksgiving, our perspective changes. Instead of dwelling on our problems, we focus on God’s power, provision, and promises. This brings peace to our hearts, as the next verse (Philippians 4:7) assures us that God’s peace will guard our minds when we trust Him in prayer. Today, ask yourself: Do I include thanksgiving in my prayers, or do I focus only on my requests? How can I develop a habit of gratitude, even when facing challenges? In what ways has God already answered my prayers that I can thank Him for today? Prayer: Almighty Father, thank You for Your faithfulness and love. Help me to approach You in prayer with a heart full of gratitude, trusting that You hear and answer in Your perfect way. Teach me to focus on Your goodness rather than my worries, and let thanksgiving shape my prayers. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
