The Root and the Branches | Pastor Courtney Hall

from PCF Los Angeles · host Praise Christian Fellowship Los Angeles

Romans chapters 9-11 explain God’s faithfulness to & through His people Israel. Even when they did not remain fully faithful to Him (just as no other people have), “It is not as though God’s word had failed” (Rom 9:6) for the promise of God’s righteousness could only ever be received by faith (Rom 4). In Christ “there is no distinction between Jew & Gentile” (Rom 10:12). Yet in chapter 11, God reveals a special purpose at work even in the predominant historical Jewish rejection of the Gospel, whereby Gentile people once outside can be grafted into faith, ultimately enticing a restoration of faith among the Jewish people maintained as a remnant by God’s grace (Rom 11:5). All the branches of this holy tree live by God’s grace through Jesus Christ the righteous root (Rev 5:5; 22:16), verdant vine (John 15:1-5), anointed branch (Isaiah 11:1-2; Zech 3:8; 6:12), living firstfruit (1 Cor 15:20-23), & crowning glory of all life (Rev 2:7; 22:2)  -SCRIPTURE TEXT: Romans 11:1-36   *For those online: prepare your supplies to join us in Communion.   SUNDAY SERVICE  PREACHER: Lead Pastor Courtney Hall   DATE: June 6, 2021   JOIN US LIVE ONLINE AT 10AM*   SERVICE TIME: 10:00am (In-Person & Online*)   SERIES: ROMANS (Part 14)   SERMON: "The Root and the Branches"
