In John 6:53, Jesus said, 'Unless you eat his flesh and drink his blood, you have no life in you.'In John 6:54, Jesus said, 'Whosoever eats his flesh and drinks his blood hath eternal life, and he will raise him at the last day.' In Matthew 26:26-28, Jesus was observing the Jewish Passover. It was at this event that Jesus instituted the new covenant, based on the first covenant God made with man in the Garden of Eden. Jesus took the bread, blessed it, gave it to his disciples, and said, "Take, eat; this is my body."Jesus took the cup and said, 'Drink ye all of it, this is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.'Then he adds, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom. This a powerful prophetic statement in that we get to partake of Jesus' sacrifice, that is the benefits of it now.The tangible benefit of Jesus' sacrifice is life now!
