The Safest Place Is With the Shepherd

In this episode of Bible StudTea, we study Matthew 10:16–25, where Jesus prepares His disciples to be sent out as sheep among wolves.Jesus does not hide the challenges they will face. He tells them about opposition, rejection, persecution, and betrayal, while also teaching them how to respond with wisdom, innocence, endurance, and dependence on the Holy Spirit.Through this passage, we discover the honesty and integrity of Jesus. He never manipulates people into following Him or hides the cost of discipleship. He lovingly prepares His followers so that hardship will not cause them to believe that something has gone wrong.This study also explores the difference between acknowledging that something hurts and allowing pain to pull us away from God. Saying “ouch” does not mean we lack faith. We can honestly admit that a season is heavy while continuing to trust the Shepherd.One of the central revelations from this episode is:The safest place is not always the place without wolves. The safest place is wherever the Shepherd has called us to be.Although this passage specifically addresses the persecution of the disciples, it reveals the character of the same Jesus who remains faithful through financial pressure, parenting, homeschooling, uncertainty, grief, and every difficult season of life.Jesus tells the truth.
