A woman named Grace moves into a rental house on Willow Creek Road in the autumn of 2021. The backyard has a sandbox the landlady insists she keep covered, but the neighborhood children keep digging it up. Grace meets a girl named Lily who draws the same thing every day—a house, a tree, a stick figure in a window.
