The Sandbox Why we can't Play together - Craig Sicilia

from Craig Sicilia founder BIR · host Craig Sicilia

The Sand Box  Part One - Why there is not unity in the survivor movement Hosted By Craig Sicilia There is a reason that brain injury is the hidden or silent epidemic.  We try to get into the sand box but in no time at all the box is empty because we through so much sand in each others faces there we are in this sand box all the sand gone just us alone and nothing to do. It is true that brain injury accesentuates everything including our egos and pride.  With or with out a brain injury egos and pride destory organization as badly as gread and bad plans.  We see it, we know it.  But we continue to do it anyways.  Some professionals say survivors should lead groups.  Some times their right but over all they are sadly mistaken.  Only survivors know the journey and the bulk of the money goes to support organizations who put 90% of that money into support people who are not survivors to serve us.   Survivor leaders can be arogant, self centered, closed minded, prejeduce against each other, gosip, point the finger really quick, competitive whos accident was the worse and more and that was me in the first 10 minutes in the beginning of the journey.  Now I truly know the only expertise is the journey i had.  I do not have any idea what others need so we share what our expertise is and you take what works for you.   We want equity and peace yet we won't give it, we look dangerous to the outsider, and validate that with our actions.  We must stop and be happy with who we are and who our fellow survivors are.  We must empower and encourage one another wether we agree or not.  let them make their own mistakes and love them anyway.  Our journey Part 1
