The Saving King Part 2 | Given By Pastor Luke Shope

from LBC Sermon Archive · host Lighthouse Baptist Church Winchester VA

In John 12:12-19, Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem is a profound event filled with prophetic significance. The crowd welcomed Him with palm branches and cries of 'Hosanna,' expecting a political savior to liberate them from Roman rule. However, Jesus came to offer a different kind of salvation—one that addresses the soul rather than political circumstances. Riding a donkey, Jesus fulfilled Zechariah's prophecy, symbolizing peace and humility, challenging the crowd's expectations of military might. The disciples did not fully grasp the significance of these events until after Jesus' glorification and the coming of the Holy Spirit, teaching us that spiritual understanding often unfolds progressively. We are encouraged to share our testimonies, as those who witnessed Jesus raising Lazarus did, leading others to seek Him. Reflecting on our spiritual journey and aligning our worship motives with seeking Jesus for who He truly is can deepen our faith and help others see the true nature of His kingship.
