The Savior's Evidence
from Delta Church - SPI · host Jonathan Davis
Luke 11: 14-54 Is it illogical to respond to Jesus in belief? Is there a lack of convincing evidence to respond to Him in belief? In a section that deals with discipleship and the quiet growth of God’s Kingdom, Luke hits pause on that theme in order to answer these particular questions. As is evident in our text this morning, not everyone who sees the works of Jesus and hears the words of Jesus respond to Jesus with denying, dying, followership. And it’s not due to a lack of evidence, neither is it unreasonable, as Luke will show us. As a matter of fact, it comes down to a hard-hearted, hypocritical unbelief. So in order to deepen the gospel certainty of his audience, Luke answers why some reject the King and His Kingdom and the result of doing so. He wants us to see that there is evidence which demands the response—repent and believe in Jesus.
