The Scandal of the Cross (Part 1)

As we near Easter time, Christians primarily focus upon the sacrifice of Jesus. What happened so long ago was truly a scandal. Crucifixion was used mostly on rebels as a means to get unquestioned obedience from those who witnessed the death. It was a powerful deterrent. But the early believers welcomed the message of Jesus' death on the cross. This week we will look at why Jesus' cross was a scandal. And then in the next few weeks, we'll see why the cross is so crucially important. (Sermon @ 22:24.)
