The Railway and Marine News issue from November 1914 started their story of the Tahoma as follows: “Reading like a romance of the sea is the graphic story of the rescue of the officers and crew of the USRC Tahoma, as told by Purser H C McDowell of the SS Cordova of the Alaska Steamship Company.
