In their story about the explosion of the Omar D Conger the Port Huron Times Herald on March 27th, 1922 ran the following statement made by an enthusiastic member of the public: “ ‘I don’t see how people can go out pleasure-riding this afternoon when they have a wreck like this to look at.’ said a spectator Sunday afternoon.
