If you aren't a reader, there is another way. In a 2004 study, participants wrote for 20 minutes each day for three days about either a positive life experience or a control topic. Writing about positive experiences led to higher level of happiness, improved physical health and increased focus for up to six weeks after the writing exercise. In a 2019 study, researchers at the University of Cambridge found that positive memory activation dampened cortisol responses and improved mood.
