A. and Ph.D. from UCLA's Graduate School of Education. A native of Argentina, his research areas centered on promoting academic achievement among language minority students, particularly those from Spanish-speaking backgrounds, and he is the author and co-author of several award-winning books, including the co-editor of Language and Literacy Development in Bilingual Settings (Guilford).
