In which Mowgli, settled into the rhythms and friendships of the jungle, rouses the Free People to face a dark and ancient threat in the shape of the relentless dholes, those red hunting-dogs of the Dekkan who bring terror and death upon their passage. With the solemn gravity befitting the Law of the jungle, he makes his vow to stand with his pack, and seeks strength and counsel from the wise old python Kaa, preparing for a hunting unlike any before.
