The Security of the Church

In this sermon on Psalm 125:2, Charles Spurgeon teaches that just as mountains surrounded and protected ancient Jerusalem from enemies, God completely protects His church and every individual Christian from all spiritual harm. He explains that throughout history, the church has survived persecution, false accusations, heresies, and internal conflicts because God keeps it safe, and this protection will continue forever. Spurgeon strongly emphasizes that true Christians can never lose their salvation—once God saves someone, He will keep them saved forever—because they are part of Christ's body, God has promised to protect them with an oath, and Christ paid too high a price (His blood) to let anyone He purchased be lost.Sermon delivered on November 1, 1857.
