Michael wakes up inside a dream. A cult-like structure with victims being harmed. Instead of letting it play, he pauses from inside and asks the ego why. What he is shown is the structural origin of self-hatred. He was both perpetrator and victim at once, holding the guilt of one and the rage of the other. The hate had to go somewhere.
