HAPPY ARE THE PURE (part 2) Matthew 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. Review: 1. Purity of heart is purity of emotions. 2. Purity of heart is having an undivided heart. 3. A pure heart is required to see God. Psalm 15 1 O Lord, who shall sojourn in your tent? Who shall dwell on your holy hill? 2 He who walks blamelessly and does what is right and speaks truth in his heart; 3 who does not slander with his tongue and does no evil to his neighbor, nor takes up a reproach against his friend; 4 in whose eyes a vile person is despised, but who honors those who fear the Lord; who swears to his own hurt and does not change; 5 who does not put out his money at interest and does not take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things shall never be moved. 1 John 1:6 If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. A PURE HEART IS REFLECTED IN: 1. OUR CHARACTER. 2. OUR SPEECH. Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. Ephesians 4:15 Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, Proverbs 27:6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend; profuse are the kisses of an enemy. 3. OUR PRINCIPLES. 2 Timothy 3:1–5 But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. 2 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, 4 treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people. Philippians 4:8Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. 4. OUR INTEGRITY. James 5:8 But above all, my brothers, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or by any other oath, but let your “yes” be yes and your “no” be no, so that you may not fall under condemnation. John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 5. OUR FINANCES.
