The Seven Secrets of the Eucharist

from Mercy Unbound · host Dr. Bryan Thatcher

Episode 52 - with Vinny Flynn In today’s show, we discuss with Vinny Flynn his book The Seven Secrets of the Eucharist, available at mercysong.com Vinny is well known for his music ministry and years spent spreading and sharing the message of Divine Mercy. A Eucharistic Message The Message of Divine Mercy is a Eucharistic message. Saint Faustina loved the Eucharist and added to her name, “Maria Faustina of the Most Blessed Sacrament." She saw the same rays as in the image emanating from the monstrance on several occasions. What are the Seven Secrets of the Eucharist? The Eucharist is Alive - yes we are consuming the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. The Lord told Saint Faustina, “When I come to a human heart in Holy Communion, my hands are full of all kinds of graces, but souls do not even pay attention to me. They leave me to myself and busy themselves with other things. They treat me a a dead object” (Diary, 1385). Christ is not Alone - Where Jesus is, there is God the Father and the Holy Spirit. Saint Faustina wrote, “Jesus, You come to me in Holy Communion. You who together with the Father and the Holy Spirit have deigned to dwell in the little heaven of my heart” (Diary 486). There is only one Mass - Vinny discusses this secret and the concept of the “eternal now.” Saint Faustina wrote, “Oh what awesome mysteries take place during Mass, and what sort of gift He is preparing in it for us. Only His Divine Love could permit that such a gift be provided for us” (Diary, 914). The Eucharist is not just one miracle -  there are many miracles happening, one such that Jesus is just as present in a fleck of consecrated Host as he is in an entire one. Saint Faustina wrote, “If the angels were capable of envy, they would envy us for two things; one is the receiving of Holy Communion, and the other is suffering” (Diary, 1804). We Don’t Just Receive - St. Mother Teresa said that, “The Eucharist involves more than just receiving. It also involves satisfying the hunger of Christ. He says, ‘Come to Me.’ He is hungry for souls. Nowhere does the gospel say: ‘Go away,’ but always, ‘Come to Me.’’’ Every Reception is Different - St. Anthony Mary Claret said, “The more resemblance there is between a person who goes to Communion and Jesus, so much better will the fruits of Holy Communion be.” There is no limit to the number of times we can receive - in this section Vinny speaks of Sacramental and Spiritual Communion.
