“My Sikhi is not a performance. I was so scared of showing up and getting judged like, “She doesn’t know this,” or “She doesn’t know that,” or “Oh! She does her eyebrows, she’s not a Sikh”. Even the smallest trivial things can make you feel like you don’t belong, but I didn’t experience that. And literally, that was the biggest sign of “I’m here to learn.
