The Signs of Greatness — Destiny's Arrow

After David defeats Goliath, David has popularity with everyone.  David was successful in everything that he did.  He obeyed King Saul with every command he was given regardless of how ridiculous the command was.  He was so successful that the king promotes him. "5 And David went out and was successful wherever Saul sent him; so that Saul set him over the men of war. And this was good in the sight of all the people and also in the sight of Saul's servants." (1 Samuel 18:5 RSV) King Saul even gives his daughter, Michal to him in marriage.  Imagine this tremendous honor? On the surface, it appears as though King Saul is promoting David because of his great military success and humility.  On the contrary, it was Destiny's Arrow that was propelling David into success.
