The Silence of Self-Sabotage - Part 1

from Reverse, Reset, Restore · host Sally

Send us Fan MailThanks so much for joining me today. This week, I am dropping a double-episode on Self-Sabotage and how we use different self-sabotage methods to silence us, diminishing our experiences in our lives. In today's episode, we look at why self-sabotage silences us,  and the How's, What's and Why's of self-sabotaging habits in our lives. Are you aware of your self-sabotaging triggers? We all have them! There are many reasons to self-sabotage and some of the why's of our self-sabotaging behaviours may be based on any, or a combination, of the following:-Harsh Inner Critic-Toxic Perfectionism-Fear of Rejection-Childhood Trauma-Distorted Thinking-Fear of Failure-Fear of Success-Unworthiness-PunishmentOnce you can recognise some of your Why's, you can also begin to see your How's; What types of things you do, to ensure that your Why's reasonings are met. In this episode, I go over 16 common How's - the ways you might engage in self-sabotaging behaviour. You may be aware of doing these and make a conscious decision to self-sabotage. More often than not, however, we aren't fully aware that we are choosing ways to hurt, punish or limit ourselves. From self-sabotaging our relationships, to a lack of boundaries or to be seemingly repeating the same mistakes over and over again, there are many ways in which we can enforce a toxic relationship with ourselves and others through self-sabotaging methods. In part 2, we will look at some of the ways you can create change in your life and stop the self-sabotaging monsters in their tracks. You can choose to break the silence you subject yourself to by learning what your self-sabotaging patterns are and determining to choose to not utilise them.We tend to think of sabotage as something that happens to us, not from us. So we can especially struggle to take on any personal responsibility for things that we don't like about our lives.  And we may be so deep in the self-sabotaging habits, we have no idea where we begin and self-sabotaging ends.Todays quote  comes from the  New York Time’s Best Seller author, Gary John Bishop.  If you are gonna think about anything this week around your self-sabotage habits - this’ll do it! “Sabotage isn’t apparently committed by an “enemy agent”—or is it? Maybe the enemy agent is you yourself.” – Gary John Bishophttps://www.instagram.com/reverseresetrestore/?fbclid=IwAR0ycrx4XHwDTZIwEx5LpeXF2NQOJ3cK1eJ7P1nUezK3REQR6wdBm3Mr_nYhttps://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100092872185263
