Today, we are investigating the 'High Altitude' of mourning. Imagine a vast, silent plateau in Tibet. There is no wood for cremation and the ground is too rocky for burial. Instead, the body is placed on a mountain peak to be consumed by vultures. To a Western observer, this sounds like a scene from a horror film. But in the Lab, we see it as the ultimate act of Charity.We’re looking at the Buddhist concept of Bardo, the intermediate state between death and rebirth. We’re asking: How does witnessing the total 'Dissolution' of the physical form affect our Visual Processing Centres? And can 'Staring at the Void' actually cure our fear of it?
