The Slander Murder

from Mountain Murders Hosted by Dead Air

WB Cole was a well-respected mill owner in Rockingham, NC. His daughter Elizabeth became involved with a WW1 veteran named Bill Ormond. However, the relationship soured and Bill blamed Elizabeth Cole's father. A series of "slander letters" were penned by Ormond accusing Cole of interfering in the relationship -and also brought Elizabeth's virtue into question. The circumstances surrounding Bill Ormond's murder are quite intriguing. Listen as Mountain Murders takes you way back to discuss this historic murder.
