The Slenderman Stabbing, Part 1

The Slenderman stabbing is one of the most chilling true crime cases born from internet folklore. Slenderman was supposed to stay online: a faceless figure in the woods, a shadow in a suit, a digital campfire story passed around through creepypasta forums and internet horror communities. But in 2014, that fiction crossed into real life when 12-year-old Peyton Leutner was brutally stabbed in Wisconsin by two girls she considered friends, Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier. Their reason? They believed they had to prove themselves to Slenderman. In this episode of Pure Malice, we get into part 1 of the Slenderman Stabbings. We break down the Slenderman stabbing case, from the origins of the urban legend to the obsession that grew around it, the planning behind the attack, Peyton’s incredible survival, the interrogations, the mental health diagnoses, and the court decisions that followed. This case forced people to confront uncomfortable questions about internet influence, childhood psychology, delusion, accountability, and how a fictional horror character became tied to a real-world act of violence. How did an online myth become something two children believed was real? How premeditated was the attack on Peyton Leutner? And what does this case still tell us about the darker side of internet culture? This is the story of the Slenderman stabbing, a modern urban legend that became one of the most infamous true crime cases of the decade. 🎙️ Remember... it's not just true crime.
