The small changes that can make a big difference to our bodies
from Afternoons
Five minutes doesn't sound like enough time to change much. But if you are spending big chunks of your time sitting, thinking, working, or scrolling, getting up for just 5 minutes at regular intervals can change everything. Journalist and broadcaster Manoush Zomorodi has spent years investigating what the digital, sedentary life is doing to us. Three years ago, her Body Electric podcast invited listeners to take part in a Columbia University study, testing what happened when people got up and moved regularly for just five minutes. Now the results are in, and they're the basis for her new book that shows how surprisingly small changes can make a big difference to our bodies and brains from blood pressure to posture, eyesight to productivity. The Book is called Body Electric: The Hidden Health Costs of the Digital Age and New Science to Reclaim Your Well-Being.
