June 26, 2025 Daily Devotion: "The Source of Joy"Genesis 21:6 New Living Translation 6 And Sarah declared, “God has brought me laughter. [a] All who hear about this will laugh with me. Joy is a gift from God; therefore, we can say with certainty that human beings were created for joy-and that includes the sort of joy that's lively, contagious, and sometimes evenloud. Since all humans are created by God (and therefore made to experience joy), even those who don't know Him will exchange high fives with perfect strangers at the Super Bowl, laugh with abandon with friends, and reveling a good belly laugh during a silly movie. Sometimes people mistakenly assume that Christian joy should be a quieter, more well-mannered version of“real joy,” but there's a glaring problem with this theory: it's the joy that comes from God that's truly pure, complete, and the real thing, just as the only pure and complete form of love is that which comes from God. So what's the conclusion of the matter? Don't squelch that delicious feeling of joy in yourbelly. Embrace each humorous, delightful, or pleasurable moment, even when it's a bit boisterous. God is probably laughing right along with you.
