In 1918 a German historian named Oswald Spengler mapped out a predictive model of the rise and fall of cultures based on the study of the eight “High Cultures”; Babylonian, Egyptian, Indian, Chinese, Mayan/Aztec, Greek/Roman or Classical, Arab and Western civilization, which he called the Faustian Civilization.
