This song came from attending East Bay Area events and from studying the websites of key activist environmental groups, such as the Hills Conservation Network, East Bay Pesticide Alert, The Tree Spirit Project, Save the East Bay Hills, and the Coalition to Defend East Bay Forests. For now, I thought that this song might be helpful to groups presently and urgently working on this issue. Many groups have joined the Coalition To Defend East Bay Forests in opposition to a plan by FEMA, UC Berkeley, City of Oakland, and the East Bay Regional Parks to de-forest and apply herbicides without re-planting trees, a boondoggle that will make a lot of money for Monsanto and others promoting a "war on invasive species" marketed as an "emergency" fire prevention program. It's a major struggle to educate the community most affected by this plan that could have a bad effect on the watershed and the health of all living things in the SF Bay Area.
