First, The plaintiff became addicted to heroin when she was 14 years old, and she overdosed 11 times over the course of several years. She signed a lease with the defendant, her ex-girlfriend, but she claims the defendant walked out on her. She’s suing for a security deposit and rent. The defendant says the plaintiff is spiteful and mean. She denies owing the plaintiff anything. Then, The plaintiff and defendant live next door to each other, but they’ve always had a tense relationship. He claims the defendant always calls the cops on him for noise and code violations. The plaintiff claims the defendant sprayed a weed killer on his property, which damaged his fence, so he’s suing for property damage. The defendant argues the plaintiff is just retaliating against him. He’s countersuing for emotional distress.
