The Spot Price Can't Guarantee You Physical Gold, Warns Lynette Zang | Lynette Zang
from Kitco NEWS · host Kitco Media
The spot gold price everyone watches all day may tell you almost nothing about whether you can actually get an ounce in your hands. That gap, Lynette Zang argues, is the real story.Speaking with Kitco News at the Rule Symposium 2026, Zang said the paper-physical split is now visible worldwide, from premiums paid in the East to Hong Kong and Singapore building their own gold clearing systems. She traces it to the 1970s spot market, which she says trained the public to treat gold as a trade rather than money. Her message: "you need to think about gold and silver as money and not a trade."Zang also warned that any future gold confiscation would run through the depositories where most metal is now held, at a Wall Street price she says understates its true value, and argued that stablecoins, which she calls corporate debt, are "a ploy to create an artificial market for the dollar" and fresh buyers for US Treasuries.Recorded July 08, 2026.Special thanks to our sponsor, Aris Mining, for making this coverage possible.
